update continues to download, never finishes downloading

I hit the download current update. The download starts but the blue bar continues to show loading. It never quits. The line at the bottom of the box shows "Connecting to the update server". What should I do to get the new update? I have tried to update at least 6 times.

  • Download a new copy of the Firefox program: http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html
  • Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install.
  • Install the new version that you have downloaded.

Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data.
