OK while the secure connection issue on that host might be a little tricky, all it does is to redirect you to your enterprise suite and your single sign–on system.
You can basically skip that step, and open directly mail.google.com/a/alaska.edu yourself — does that work?

Please remove your email, it is personal and this is a Public webite. Site like this get trawled for emails that are then likely sold to ?(*@ ~~
You may need to say on which host that fails (it will be in the address bar or the error message). There are several:
webmail.alaska.edu
www.alaska.edu/google
idp.alaska.edu
Do you have any antivirus/firewall/malware/phishing protection installed that would be inspecting your secure connections?
webmail.alaska.edu is the host.
Maleware antivirus, yet all three hosts that you cite are added as exceptions.
