will not connect asks for password
when I try to run Thunderbird it opens with my folders but the comes up with the message "Login to server imap.gmail.com with username scoteng1961@gmail.com failed." I exported my details then used the thunderbird uninstall program. then reinstalled it. but problem persists. What password is it asking for and how can I get a reminder of it or a chance to change it?

I should have said that this all started when I tried to make my scoteng1961@gmail.com account available on my Ipad so that I could access my email when I was away from home.
It sounds like you have a sync issue with gmail imap but I don't do either of those. All I can offer here is to advise you not to do any more uninstall/reinstalling - that won't help. Someone else here knows what to do and there is a wealth of instruction on the net. I would guess you didn't set/sync gmail imap correctly with the browser but thats only a guess.
