I have TWO AOL accounts which have "verizon.net" email domain addresses. For YEARS & YEARS they worked fine, even when all verizon accounts were migrated to AOL. Suddenly, a month ago or so, I began getting error messages when I would open TB to check my emails, saying password was incorrect. (And - for the record - I have always used the TB password mgr to save my passwords for all my email accounts.) Yet, I went directly to AOL mail and signed in perfectly fine with the existing passwords that I KNOW are correct.

I followed the suggestion to clear out the 3 files (cert9.db, key4.db and logins.json) and it STILL does NOT work. I believe this started happening right after the latest TB update that I downloaded and installed. This is HIGHLY frustrating. PLEASE get this issue fixed!!!

Chosen solution

Remove the passwords from Saved Passwords, restart TB, enter an app password when asked for a password.
