Firefox 92.0 : So now comes another "improvement" from the folks behind a program . . . NOT!

USED TO BE: Click on a Bookmark in the Bookmarks Toolbar and the roll-down would be single lines -- meaning a person could control the number of links in that Bookmark so the roll-down would go to the bottom of the screen. Simple to read, no extra activity needed.

NOW IN THE "NEW & IMPROVED" VERSION: Click on a Bookmark in the Bookmarks Toolbar and the roll-down is 1.5 or 2.0 spacing -- meaning a person is now required to futz with the roll-down since it goes way past the bottom of the screen. A waste of time to search, since one is required to spend the extra activity to scroll down and down and down until all of the bookmarks have become visible.

VISIBLE? Ha. Part of the "NEW & IMPROVED VERSION" is that the screen font used by Firefox is that all-too-ubiquitous light gray color that can barely be read unless is blessed with exceptionally good eyesight. Some websites these days think it is So Very Hip to utilize that style of font -- but make it even lighter! Mindless Madness.

SO: How does one 1. Return the Bookmark roll-down list back to a single-line style? 2. Change the font color so that it is dark enough to be readily read?

Thank you.

Currently, there is no built-in way to tighten up the spacing. Making that possible is one of the most popular ideas on Mozilla's new feedback site: https://mozilla.crowdicity.com/post/720482

There is work under way to tighten up the bookmark menus that drop from the main and bookmarks toolbar. In Firefox 93 (next release), the optional Compact density setting will do that. Here's a preview from the "Developer Edition" (based on the beta test version of Firefox 93):

However, Firefox 93 isn't scheduled to release until early October.

Until then, what support volunteers can suggest is limited...

Unofficial Community-Supported Workaround

Firefox users can modify the user interface of the browser using custom style rules. This involves setting up a userChrome.css file. If this is your first time, make sure to set aside 10 quiet minutes to work through it.

The full instructions are in the following reply: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1346577#answer-1435049

DISCLAIMER: modifications made through a userChrome.css file often stop working as Firefox evolves in new releases, and occasionally "breaks" the interface in serious ways. You can (re)start Firefox in its Troubleshoot Mode to bypass the userChrome.css file so you can get Firefox running, and then edit or remove the file as needed.

2. Change the font color so that it is dark enough to be readily read?

Where do you find the font to be unreadable -- tabs? somewhere else?

"However, Firefox 93 isn't scheduled to release until early October."

Well, what is this: The Hunt for Fled October . . . ?!

We are not at Firefox 95, and there has been no improvement on this issue. So, am I to add the Firefox app GO POUND SAND! and be quiet?

REDUX:

1. Is BACK ARROW the only means of editing an entry?

2. Corrected version:

The link that you have been given is the best place to send feedback where it will be looked at by Mozilla staff.

In the Firefox 92 release you can only reduce the menu spacing via userChrome.css. In Firefox 93 and later releases support to reduce the bookmarks menu spacing via "Density: Compact" on the Customize page has been added. Note that "Compact" is no longer present by default as a Density choice in Customize.
