I need to migrate from Outlook 2010 to Thunderbird latest version. There are multiple email accounts configured in Outlook and tons emails. This is my wife's system so I don't want to make a mistake doing the conversion.

I intend to use a automated tool if a reliable on exists - paid is fine. I need to get all of the accounts and associated outlook folders moved to tbird. Also need contacts migrated. Some of the Outlook accounts use POP3/SMTP, some use IMAP.

What is/are the best migration tools? Recommendations welcome. What traps do I need to avoid? What is the recovery process if it all goes wrong.

I have 50+ years IT experience and have used tbird for 10 years so I'm not clueless.

I have experienced Mozilla Thunderbird 140 (or higher) esr (64-bit) running under Windows 11 suddenly freezing up during writing e-mails, particularly (but maybe not exclusively) when a file has been attached to that email (before it has been sent). Has anyone else experienced this, and are there any easy fixes? Thx.

I’m using the Windows 11 version of the Thunderbird app, but when I try to add my Outlook account and enter my password, it shows “Authentication failed. Please check your username and password,” and I can’t complete the Outlook setup. I’ve tried changing my Microsoft account password and entering an app password, but neither worked.

I have many eails stored on Thunderbird servers and wish to reduce my footprint by first copying or moving some of them to USB drives, then deletinng the originals. How do I do this?

Since I first started using FIREFOX and THUNDERBIRD many years ago they have been virtually trouble free, but after the most recent update of THUNDERBIRD the NEW MESSAGE tab has stopped working. I have not, and never have, changed any SETTINGS and I checked my default email address as suggested, and it is exactly as it always has been. The various HELP options that have come up on internet searches have not worked, so I would appreciate some 'plain English' step by step instructions on how the problem can be fixed.

I really appreciate Mozilla enabling me to avoid Google etc as much as possible, and the AI assist on internet searches with has been really helpful. At MOZILLA's suggestion, I am using Privacy Badger and Ad Nauseum, but don't really understand what they do. in inbox suddenly some mails became empty and cannot be deleted nor moved nor archived, other messages not affected. It happened earlier and was asked to delete the inbox folder, that worked. But again same problem happening on the same email account, other accounts no problem. See screenshot, the bad ones have red star. Clicking on bad ones: empty screen. I have changed from Optus to Telstra and receive my emails through The Messaging Company. Today I cannot send an email andd they have informed me that I need to connect the Messaging Company to You or something like that. I have no idea. Can you please help me?

Been having issues for quite a while with messages, containing images, loading very slowly. After downloading messages (64-bit 115.9.0 Windows), I click on a message that contains multiple images. All the text shows immediately, but in place of the message, all I see is a highlighted link to 'image'. After 15-20 seconds, each actual image will start loading. Any ideas what is happening here? Thanks

I am receiving email, am able to read and reply to my email; but I continually get a warning box that the password to pop.(my address) failed. I have an IMAP connection. This warning box freezes what I am doing until I cancel it. If I x-out the box, it closes the window I am in. Annoying as hell... Make it stop!

Need help installing Thunderbird mail settings. Step by step please!

How far off are the settings as above? I am not able get success ... bummer!

For the past two weeks, since my IP provider renewed security certificates, I have not been able to send or receive emails in Thunderbird. I can access my emails fine using one of my android devises through Thunderbird, biut my Windows 11 devices refuse to co-operate. I deleted certificates in the hope that Thunderbird would download and attach new certificates, but this has not happened either. I have tried changing ports and security TLS. I can however, access my mail.besttelecom.net.au emails using outlook. I have been using Thunderbird since it's first appearance and prefer it to any other email manager.I have heaps of data stored in it which I access regularly, so I would prefer not going to another email manager.

Others have this problem but I haven’t seen a solution. Problem occurred for the first time today (08/20/25). I opened thunderbird on my Windows 10 PC. All updates and thunderbird are current. I can create and send emails fine, but I can not download new mail. I can see 20 new emails on my phone but can not download to my PC. I called AT&T support. My email is sbcglobal domain. They tried to help. Went into server settings and the AUTHORIZATION TYPE was OATH2. There were 4 other options. I tried them all. (Normal PW, Encrypted PW and 2 others). Nothing worked. And now, OATH2 is not one of the available options. No idea how it was originally set. AT&T said that was a Microsoft Authorization type, so I contacted MS support (chat). They were no help. They immediately said “Thunderbird is a 3rd party client, we don’t support it”. I told him it might have been the most recent Windows update that caused the problem. He said “Contact Mozilla”.

Any help would be appreciated. Another question I have is, if I were to delete the Thunderbird application and re-download it. Would I lose all my emails and folders? That would be life-changing in a bad, bad way.

I used to be able to move 25 to 50 emails at a time from my inbox to an archive folder like "2025" folder. Now I can't move more that 1 or 2 at a time. Thunderbird just locks up. I have 1500 emails in the archived 2025 folder right now. Is that too many? This feature used to work.
