Some sites recently became blocked on my computer. I either get I'm not connected to the internet or redirected. How do I fix this?

I went on vacation, when I came back the following websites were blocked. Facebook, Cracked & TMZ. I cannot access them from this computer either with Fixfox or IE. They can be accessed by other computers at this work. Is there a way to unblock them? With Facebook, I get the message saying I'm not signed onto the internet. With the other 2, I get redirected to Yahoo.com. Anybody have any ideas? Thanks

Chosen solution

Close All Web Browsers (Firefox, IE , Opera, Safari, etc.)

-> Open My Computer -> go to Windows drive (C:\) -> Windows -> System32 -> drivers -> etc -> open hosts file in Notepad -> DELETE ALL LINES below this line: 127.0.0.1 localhost -> Save the file and close it -> Now open Web Browsers and check

For Facebook, try this:

Cannot log in to Websites

Check and tell if its working.

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs.
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

Mha, I have already looked at that page. Firefox 5 nor IE 10 can load those 3 pages. It happened while I was away. Cor-I run Kaperski, Spybot & Ad Aware all the time & have so for years as well as having Window's Defender up. I update weekly on them. I am running the Malwarebytes program at the moment & see if that clears it up. Will run the SuperAntiSpyware thing in a moment. I hope these help. Thanks

It appears there was a trojan on Firefox. Had it removed & rebooted the computer as it required. Showed up on Malwarebytes & SuperAntiSpyware but they are gone. I suppose I will have to unistall Firefox & start over from scratch.

Make sure that you delete the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\).

It may not be necessary to create a new profile, so first try if it works with your current profile and if not then create a new profile.
