I want a receipt for a message I sent to ensure it was received. Is there a setting for that?

I sent a message to someone and it was listed in my "sent mailbox" so I assumed she received it. She says she didn't get it. Is there a setting that will send me a receipt when the person I sent the message to opens it or the recipient is required to send a receipt when the message is opened? If so, how do I do that?
