Firefox tabs open multiple connections to websites per tab.

I keep getting blocked from certain websites for attempted DDoSing, I spoke to a webdev of one of the sites and it appears that each firefox tab connection is opening at least 10 connections to the website instead of one, which means I get blocked from the website regularly and can't connect to it.

I have no plugins ie fasterfox or anything similar, however I do have TuneUp Utilites and I fear that that may have done something to cause my problem, however I am still unsure.

Try to reset all network.http prefs on the about:config page.

To open the about:config page, type about:config in the location (address) bar and press the Enter key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website. If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes). See Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems and Troubleshoot issues with plugins like Flash or Java to fix common Firefox problems

i can get to the about:config page but how do I

"reset all network.http prefs on the about:config page"

I can find the network.http section but there are no "prefs" ...can you be more specific on how to do that?

thanks. p.s. my browser is opening 128 connections each time

See http://kb.mozillazine.org/about%3Aconfig

You can use the Filter bar at the top: network.http You can right-click prefs that are bold (user set) and chose "Reset" to reset them to the default value.

Thanks for that info. I did that but upon restart of firefox, about 40 other network: prefs were "user set". I am not sure if I should reset all of them? some relate to my antivirus i think.

Would it be easier to just reinstall firefox. would that reset everything automatically.

Thanks for your replies. I still have 78 outbound connections with firefox.

Update to previous post:

I erred when i said i had 40 other "user sets". they are not in the network section. the network section is all set to default.

I still have 78 outbound connections with firefox.

Version 3.6.8, only Sync plugin installed...

I have same problem... for each site Firefox try to open multiple connections... even with local 127.0.0.1 it opens at least 2 or 3 connections... each connection I need is a nightmare... is freezes for minutes sometimes...

Ok, made the reset as told by cor-el, disabled also the Sync plugin thinking that FF may get back data from sync server, bu no joy... each time I start FF again, I get same bad ( for sure ) parameters in About:Config panel... is there a way to save them before restarting FF...? I found no info about this...

My About:Config parameters are :

network.http.max-connections;48 network.http.max-connections-per-server;16 network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-proxy;16 network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server;8 network.http.pipelining;true network.http.pipelining.firstrequest;true network.http.pipelining.maxrequests;8 network.http.proxy.pipelining;true network.http.request.max-start-delay;0

I think request.max-start-delay is the one causing the most troubles...

Ok, manually reset the prefs.js file to defaults... Now About:Config is reporting the correct values a per default... but no joy even restarting FF...

presently Firefox has opened 4 connections with local 127.0.0.1, and it seems to open multiple connections with servers even if it already receiving data from same server...

I have tried all of the things you recommended. Thank you for suggesting those. Unfortunately they have not stopped the problem.

Today i opened firefox with only 1 tab open, and 256 connections opened......Not all in firefox, but most of them were in firefox. What can be causing this ? I am a true believer in firefox but this is making me reconsider.
