I can't search from address bar - result is "404 Nothing matches the given URI"

I have Brave set as default search engine. I type in the address bar, hit enter, and always get a Brave screen with "404 Nothing matches the given URI". I downloaded the Brave browser and the problem goes away. But I prefer Firefox as my browser, so I'm hoping there is an easy fix to this.

Not sure what or who added the current Brave search provider for you, but if you remove that entry or the relevant addon responsible for it, you can add a custom search manually, see Add custom search engines in Firefox — the correct placeholder form for them to enter in the settings is:
