I just downloaded Thunderbird to move from Outlook. All of my folders in Outlook landed in the Trash in Thunderbird. How do I get them back????

And, where are my contacts? None of them transferred over.

All of my folders in Outlook landed in the Trash in Thunderbird.

Those folders are not located in your Trash folder. They are subfolders of your Inbox folder and displayed below your Trash folder.

Strange layout for me, too! I have never used emoticons in folder names 😗 I am not familiar with Outlook wich I never used. But I think there must be a possibility to export your address book(s) from Outlook and then import the address book file(s) in Thunderbird: in Thunderbird go to Tools > Import ... which opens a new Import Tab > activate ◉ Import from a file ...
