I am trying to change my search over to Mozilla and firefox. When I open up the firebox search the google search pops in. Why? I already discouraged because I know they are attempting control. The last two years I have been hacked almost every month. The whole problem has been ongoing for almost 20 years.

Hi

This support article should help you to change the default search engine in Firefox:

I am trying to change my search over to Mozilla and firefox.

Mozilla the makers of the Firefox web browser on Windows, macOS. Linux and the mobile versions for Android and iOS/iPadOS does not have a search engine of their own.

A search engine is for example google.com, duckduckgo.com, bing.com etc and there are a Lot of options at https://mycroftproject.com/

Google is the default on most language locales of Firefox as you can change to another of the default search engine options or install a another search engine in Firefox as the KB article in above reply shows.
