How can I stop Firefox from nagging me to create new profiles *without* disabling profiles completely?

For a few weeks now, Firefox desktop (on both Linux & Windows) prompts me on every start to create a new profile. I don't want to create a new profile, nor do I want to disable profiles completely, but most of all, I don't want to be repeatedly prompted. Another peeve is the repeated advertising of the new "summary" feature. New features should be offered *once* with an option to *permanently* dismiss the reminders! Failing this, there should be an option to disable the reminder in settings, without having to use about:config!

Could be that there is a problem with the profiles.ini file that stores the profiles registry and causes the profile not to getcsaved. This file is in the parent location of the profile folder.

You can check in both locations (main and cache) for unregistered (orphaned) profiles and possibly do a cleanup.
