Thanks but that is literally zero help. Why it happens is irrelevant to me. I want to know how to make it stop.

If we knew how to solve it, we would do it.

1. Try closing unnecessary apps to free up memory.
2. As the previous person said, you can test Nightly. It uses 4 content process compared to 2 in the Stable version. You would lose 1/4 of the tabs instead of half in the event of an incident.

Regarding your question, there are multiple reasons why a page can reload on its own. The Android team is tracking all bugs related to tabs reload here. One of the most common triggers is when the user switches apps, as Sebastian noted above.
