Quick Filter - By Sender, Recipient, Subject or Body - not working fully (Mac version)
Running 128.4.2esr (64-bit) on Mac Book Pro (14-inch, 2021 - Apple M1 Max).
I have been using Thunderbird across multiple accounts for years, and have collected a really decent amount of email history. Quick-Filters have always formed a large part of my workflow to find emails from given people. I do not take the time to filter messages into sub-folders etc, but rely on these tools to access the mails I need to get to.
In these recent versions, the Quick Filters have stopped working for me across all of my accounts.
When I attempt to use them, by entering a part of someone's email address, or part of a known subject, then click on the filter type I want to use, the indictor to show that the filter is active never changes. I use a dark theme, and expect the filter option to show it's actively applied with the light blue indicator on the filter's button. - This never happens.
In addition, while the displayed contents of the mailbox folder change, the filter itself is never appropriately applied to limit the content which is shown.
I had been sitting patiently on the sidelines hoping that this would be fixed in a new release, but I can't see much evidence of others suffering this same problem yet, and so I don't believe this is being addressed as a bug (yet).
I have enabled Troubleshooting mode to check with add-ons disabled etc, and that hasn't changed this behaviour for me.
This is quite an issue for me as it's affecting how easily I can use my local client. I've ended up having to return to webmail in order to find emails which I should be able to find in my client.
Anyone else having these problems? - Thanks.

OMG - I feel like an IDIOT!...
Having played around a little more with this on one of my smaller mailboxes, it seems that the 'active' indicator on these filter options in dark mode is not coloured in any way, but uses a really, really subtle in-fill of grey.
I had erroneously had all of the filter options selected without even knowing it - not knowing they were all active, across Sender, Recipient, Subject and Body - is what was causing my really odd sets of results.
WOW. OK, well at least now I'm back to being able to use it. Sorry everyone! ...
Suggestion: Can we use a small splash of colour in there instead of a very small subtle infill of grey in those indicators?
Thanks, and sorry!
Chris.

My eyesight is not good enough for me to know that these were active selections, and that the second of these are all inactive...
I changed my theme to light, and this is more of what I was expecting to see... So the problem of very little distinction in these filters being applied is only an issue within Dark mode.
Yep, I'd strongly suggest putting some colour in-fill in those indicators for Dark Mode.
The QFB buttons can be styled (see picture) with userChrome.css:
#quick-filter-bar button[aria-pressed="true"]{background-color:red !important;}
Help/Troubleshooting Info, Profile Folder, Show in Finder (Win: Open Folder), close TB, create a new folder named chrome, create a new document in chrome with a text editor, name it userChrome.css, Save as type: All files *.*, copy in the above code, change the colour as desired. Double-click toolkit.legacyUserProfileCustomizations.stylesheets to true in Settings/General/Config. editor, restart TB.
So the issue was that my OS theme's accent colour was set too closely to the background to the point that it was indistinguishable... Going into OSX's theme editing and setting a more contrasting accent colour fixed this too...
This did change in the recent release, which is what caught me out...
Thanks everyone for your input and help.
