Hi I am a longtime user of your browser. I have version 124.0.2(64 bit) installed on three devices. First thing I do on opening it is to click on "about", which normally updates the browser, before I do any browsing. In the last three weeks, however, it has not updated on any of the three devices, rather, it says "Failed to check for updates". I have tried the workarounds suggested at your Help center, and nothing has worked. What gives, may I ask? Thank you

Try changing DNS over HTTPS (DoH) to "Off" or "Max Protection" and in Connection Settings change "Use system proxy settings" to "No proxy".

Try disabling any third-party security software, this may require rebooting into Windows Safe Mode (networking enabled).

Do you have NordVPN installed? A Reddit user tracked it down to NordVPN being the problem: "Figured it out. When NordVPN "Web Protection" is on, it fails to check for updates from the About menu as well. When "Web Protection" is off, it correctly checks for updates. I surmise that when Firefox fails to check, it assumes that I need an update and gives the original annoying message."

The Web Protection is in the same area as NordVPN's "Threat Protection". It can be found by clicking the Shield icon on the left sidebar of the program.

Please let us know if that gets rid of the failure to update messages in Firefox.
