Hello, I have been getting a bit annoyed at something very small that I tried to fix, but nothing I do is working.

I am wanting to use the address/search bar and click my mouse wheel to open a new tab in the background. Without switching to the newly created tab. But instead it's always switching to the new tab right as I click with my mouse wheel.

I have tried looking up the problem online and following the people's advice on other posts. Nothing is working to change this. At all.

I went to the "about:config" area and tried switching a few settings related to opening the tab in background and restarting Firefox, I tried going to the actual setting page and the checkbox for "When you open ... switch to it immediately" was unchecked. Nothing was changing at all and clicking the mouse wheel was still opening and switching automatically. (All "__inbackground" stuff in about:config is set to true at the time of this post, I have noticed that changing stuff in there and restarting Firefox isn't effecting/changing anything)

I would really appreciate some help if this is still able to be changed. I recently switched from Chrome to Firefox, and I really loved how I was able to click my mouse wheel to open a tab in the background. (Also, I am using the latest version of Firefox)

For opening a URL in the location bar in the background hold Ctrl+Shift with a middle-click or use Alt+Shift+Enter.

Those helped, but what if I don't want to use any keyboard shortcuts with the middle-click? I really don't like using my fingers just to open a tab in the background, it'll hurt my fingers quite a bit if I want to use those combos all the time.
