Can I have to browsers?

Can I add Firefox and still keep Safari and switch between them? One reason would be that I have so much stuff in Safari—hundreds of tabs open, folders, history—that I wouldn’t want to lose, and even if there’s a way to move it all to Firefox, I’m not sure that I’d trust that nothing would be lost. But there are a number of things I run up against that aren’t compatible with Safari, so I need to have an alternative for those times, without being forced into the googleverse with Chrome. Thanks.
