At 6:01am yesterday I received an email. Since then this email has been repeating, over 100 right now. I have not received other emails since, and I can't send. If I press 'get messages' I just get another same email. I am also using Gmail, which is working.
Chosen solution
just turn of your mail scanner and let the accumulated email download. There will be a corrupt message (probably in the spam folder) that makes it choke and die.
Once your mail is downloaded you can re-enable the mail scanner if it makes you feel comfortable.

Hi Try opening Gmail from your browser, and deleting all copies of that email from the Gmail account. Let us know if that works or not.
I only got one of these messages in the Gmail account, and I deleted it. I deleted 70 of the messages from the Mozilla Thunderbird account, and have received 51 more as of right now, all saying received at 6:01 on the 16th, and have received no other emails since that time.

Thank you Matt. It was a bit delayed, but it seems to be working now.
I have another problem. Almost all of the emails I receive have strange symbols and letters interspersed with the message.
