Want to be removed as release channel user
Hello years ago I signed up to be a release channel user. I no longer want to be part of that as prefer to have updates to firefox only when they are released to everyone and not beta releases. Is there a way to ensure I dont get these early upgrades to my browser but keep my firefox account and all my data ?

You do not sign up to use Release channel builds as you get on it when you download the current Firefox Release from Mozilla. What you think is the current public version is the Release channel.
Firefox Release channel is only the current Release which is now 80.0. and is what you would be served on https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/new/ . Not sure why you think the Release channel are Beta builds as a build on one channel does not upgrade to a build on another channel..
These are the Testing channels https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/channel/desktop/
The Beta (and Developer Edition) channel is a version a head as it is 81.0b# with 81.0b2 being the current Beta build. There can be say nine to fourteen or more builds. The Developer Edition is same as Beta but with additional developer features. Nightly is more unstable as it gets checkins and updates twice a day. The most stable channel is the Release channel.
Release (80.0) < Beta (81.0b#) < Nightly (82.0a1)
There is only one other channel and that is Extended Support Release or ESR however those are meant more for Enterprise users in mind and not the general public. It only gets allowed stability and security fixes to be stable and the current is based on the Firefox 78.0 and is 78.2.0esr.

HI Alex thanks for the link. ) does that mean I totally uninstall my current version, then download latest public version and then create a whole new profile ? with new login details ect ? excuse my ignorance on such things

Note that the release update channel is the normal update channel, so no need to change your current update channel.
