What is the limit to the number of emails that can be sent in a list of emails?
Just a simple question! Asked because a friend is having issues with MS Outlook in limiting the number of emails he can sent at once and both his ISP & MS say the other is responsible for the issue. Before I suggest using Mozilla Thunderbird for his emails I want to know the limit. Simple as that.
Chosen solution
Just a simple answer. There is none.
A more complex answer is that Thunderbird has no limit, nor does Outlook if I recall correctly. Mail providers however almost universally have limits, but what they are is entirely set by the provider in question. I am aware of limits as low as 5 and as high as 200.
Some limits are truly complex, one provider counts all email addresses in a list and CC'ed and Bcc'ed and limits you to only so many per hour. So one day a list will work, the next day after you reply to some other mails it will not because you have exceeded their limit for whatever per hour. Google have a daily limit. But this varies if you are a business customer or a free customer. In business accounts it is also different if the emails are addressed internally to your domain or externally to the Internet in general.
It may well be that your friend will need to use a mailing service like mailchimp to avoid ISP spam limiting rules.
