Wikipedias icon isn't loading in its tab, so far it seems like it's the only website that does this. last night the icon loaded fine on the https://www.wikipedia.org/ page, but nowhere else on the site, but this morning it no longer loads there as well. It comes up fine on other computers and other browsers, though.

Did you make sure that security software isn't blocking this image?

What does the Network tab show if you open the image in a tab?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problem.

See "Creating a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.

Can you open this logo via the location/address bar?

If images are missing then check that you do not block images from some domains. You can tap the Alt key or press F10 to show the Menu Bar Check the permissions for the domain in the currently selected tab in "Tools > Page Info > Permissions"

Check "Tools > Page Info > Media" for blocked images

  • Select the first image link and use the cursor Down key to scroll through the list.
  • If an image in the list is grayed and "Block Images from..." has a checkmark then remove this checkmark to unblock images from this domain.

Make sure that you do not block (third-party) images, the permissions.default.image pref on the about:config page should be 1.

There are extensions like Adblock Plus (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) and Anti-Virus security software that can block images and other content.

If you use Avast then try to disable HTTPS scanning in Avast Web Shield.

Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) to see if that has effect.

the link wont load at all, no 404 or error, just doesn't do anything when clicked. It looks like it's loading it for a second, but instantly stops. Nothing's blocked on Wikipedia, image loads just fine in IE.

looking through tools>Page Info>Media, I can find the image just fine, and it doesn't have any issue previewing it, doesn't seem to be blocked at all

Suddenly the link loads fine, no idea what I did different, maybe after I checked it with IE something changed?

but the icon in wikipedia's tabs is still missing, even after disabling avast's https scanning and running firefox in safe mode

After messing with my antivirus software and turning off web scanning completely, it looks like it's the problem afterall. I'll take it up with the avast forums, thanks for your time

Can you tell us what settings in Avast you needed to change?

It can help other with similar issues.

I had to turn off avast's web shield completely and shift+refresh wikipedia, not an optimal solution. A thread is already up on the avast forum full of similar issues, hopefully it will be resolved soon
