I cannot double click on a toolbar bookmark to open it. I can right click it and select "open" and it works

I notice you have an old version of Firefox (34.0 – current: 39.0). You should update Firefox, it may be solve your problem. Update instruction here: Update Firefox to the latest release

Next, try to open a bookmark in Firefox Safe Mode: close Firefox and open it while holding down the shift key.
