Sometimes I need to search something that is written in a file so I start typing command in urlbar and I switch between windows using alt+tab. When I go back and want to continue typing said search command the whole text is highlighted. I tried to select browser.urlbar.clickSelectsAll;false and browser.urlbar.doubleClickSelectsAll;true but it does nothing. I'm using latest firefox.

I'm not seeing this on Linux, so I'm not sure if this is an issue on Linux.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window
