Thunderbird for Android Community Forum

I am experiencing a problem with Thunderbird for Android.

My setup:

• Smartphone: Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra (SM-S918B)
• Android version: Android 16
• Computer: Windows PC
• Desktop email client: Thunderbird for Windows (latest version)
• Email accounts are configured and working correctly on the Windows version of Thunderbird.

The issue concerns the Android application. Despite using the same email address, login credentials and server settings that work correctly on my Windows computer, I am unable to properly configure or synchronize the account in Thunderbird for Android.

The desktop version connects without any issues, while the Android application either rejects the settings or fails to synchronize properly.

I have already:

• verified the email address and password,
• confirmed that the same credentials work on the Windows version,
• checked the incoming and outgoing server settings,
• reinstalled the Android application,
• ensured that the device has an active internet connection.

Could you please advise what additional steps I should take to resolve the issue?

With three accounts, if the first account is set to folder poll frequency = 15min and the others are set to never, the first account does not poll its folders after 15 minutes. The bug workaround is to set all three accounts to 15 minutes. However not knowing this caused me to miss important emails.

When manually refreshing an account, new messages do not appear automatically; you must scroll down to see them.

This is a regression from a previous fix in a version of K9 from a few years ago I believe.

Mail.com support recommended that I install Thunderbird to clean out my inbox. Things went perfectly and I managed to delete 20,000. Then the app just STOPPED. It wouldn't delete any more. I emptied my email's trash, restarted my phone twice, and cleared the cache several times. The app is just inoperable.

Please help! I have 265,000 more emails to delete.

There are two pdf files attached to an email I received. When selecting view all and then save all, one file gets saved with the name of the other file, and a zero byte file is created with correct name. The other file is not saved. This erroneous behaviour is repeatable.

Is there a way to export/backup all the emails and folders from an account using Thunderbird for Android? I've searched around and can't find any sign of it, or mention here on support.mozilla.org or elsewhere on the web, so I presume that the feature doesn't exist, however I thought I'd ask here just in case.

My use case is that I've got an old email account which I want to backup before I migrate away from it.

I know how i can add an image or a banner in an email in the desktop version, i also know how i can make a sort of banner with a signature file in the desktop version.

But i would really like to know how i can use a email banner or image and center it in the middle of the top of the email when i use the android app. is that possible? And which steps do i need to take?

I'm using Thunderbird for Android 19.2 from Google Play on Android 16.

When I try and send large-ish (around 1MB) messages they are not sent, and a notification "Failed to send some messages / Unable to Send message" appears.

This isn't a server restriction. The mail server it's connecting to is mine, and with a smaller message log entry "postfix/smtps/smtpd" appears. With larger messages no SMTP connection is attempted and no such message occurs.

How do I configure the size at which this occurs?

I am preparing to migrate from K9 mail to Thunderbird for Android. Before I go through the process and learning curve for the software, one key feature will be the determining factor.

Does Thunderbird for Android have inbox rules, possibly also called Filters like in Thunderbird Desktop, that will automatically find keywords or sender info in the header of a received message and deposit that message into a designated alternate folder?

That would determine whether I switch to Thunderbird for Android.

Hello, I’m having the following problem: When I try to add my Outlook email address to Thunderbird for Android, I get the error "Authentication unsuccessful: SmtpClientAuthentication is disabled for the Mailbox." This points to a help article that only describes a procedure using PowerShell—requiring domain admin privileges, which I don't have. Setting up the IMAP incoming server seems to work fine, but the outgoing server refuses to connect. This is just a personal account. The configuration is: Server: smtp.office365.com; Security: StartTLS; Port: 587; Authentication: OAuth 2.0; Username: mymail@outlook.de; Client certificate: None. I also tried the configuration using the server smtp-mail.outlook.com (with otherwise identical settings), but I get the same error. Does anyone have any advice?
