You can check the target line in the Firefox desktop shortcut (right-click: Properties) to make sure that nothing is appended after the path to the Firefox program.

If you are comfortable with the registry editor (regedit.exe) then try a search for weeklyjobadvice to see if anything shows up.

You can use the MSConfig program or the Autoruns utility to see which software and services are getting started (be cautious with disabling services).

Is this a pop-up? Is it an add? Is it someplace you have been? What Firefox and computer system are you using? Do you have and add-ons? Plug-ins?

You can check for suspicious and unknown extensions that you didn't install yourself or aren't using.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
All these programs have free versions.

Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.

it usually opens up in a banner type popup at upper left corner of screen when I startup or reboot and opens in task bar as a separate window. this does not always come up, it is random i have ran several anti spyware programs as recommended by others on Mozilla and have stopped ad-dons and extensions have looked for it in registry and cannot find it. if you can tell me something it would be appreciated.

thanks for your info. none of this helped, i tried it all
