Loading of pages stalling - Mac - Version 3
I have had Firefox (version 3) on my Mac ever since I bought it 18 months ago. I have never had an issue with it until lately, except when I tried to go full screen on certain Facebook games. I have looked into updating to a newer version but haven't yet because a) I don't want to lose sxipper & b) I had read that a lot of people start having problems when they change to a newer version. Anyway lately, almost every time I open up a new tab, look up something on google & open the page, it just stalls opening the site & it freezes all of Firefox. You then have to wait at least 3 or 4 minutes for it to right itself. But then, every time you open a different page within the same site, it does the same thing.. over & over again. This is happening to almost every site I try to open now. Can anyone explain why this is happening & also, how I can upgrade to version 5 if I keep having these issues, as I cannot seem to find how to do this & from what I've read, it's the best version. Thank you for your assistance.. :)

You can try to disable IPv6
Start Firefox in Use Troubleshoot Mode in Firefox to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
- Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

Firefox 5 is a no longer supported older version.
The current release is Firefox 7.0.1.
