How do I get Firefox to not-grey out parts of the URL?
Firefox (I have 4.0) installed some updates and now it does that thing where all of the URL of the site I'm on, except for the domain (e.g. mozilla.com). I know it's not a big deal but I personally don't like that, and I was wondering if that could be disabled. I looked through the Options but couldn't find anything that seemed relevant.

Two preferences you may want to change in about:config are
Type about:config in the Location (address) bar and filter for these preferences.
browser.urlbar.trimURLs toggle this to false to again display the "http://
browser.urlbar.formatting.enabled toggle this to false to change it back to old way.

Thank you very much. That did the trick.
Firefox 6 doesn't have the feature yet to hide the protocol in the location bar, but the next version Firefox 7 will have it, so you may want to make a note of the pref browser.urlbar.trimURLs to be prepared.
Hmm right... as 6.0 is a little too old for me with the builds I am testing.

Wow I will certainly note this. Who on earth would want these settings? I hated this feature in Opera. I hope it will soon disappear from default setting. Maybe it can be included in a special skin for novice computer users.
