When I launch firefox it only shows address bar etc. but won't show the actual page, except in "full screen" view. My OS is Windows Vista. In other words, I get the top menu bars and the rest of the screen show my desktop background.

Start Firefox in Use Troubleshoot Mode in Firefox to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
