Firefox is halting on html5 video playback on FreeBSD

I usually watch videos on Firefox on Stan - https://www.stan.com.au/account/login - with no problem on Debian. Just wondering if this is a fault with Firefox on FreeBSD, so I know where to go looking for the problem. Other outlets have sub par performance, also, such as YouTube, where the video comes up but plays like it's operating at one frame/5 seconds, with no sound. Thanking you for any time and trouble.

Pretty much any video today is "HTML5", but the media types, codecs/patents necessary for them etc. vary quite wildly.

If you want to compare the two systems of yours with regards to media support, open "More Troubleshooting Information" from your Help menu, and look for the red/green entry table under "Media" section, that will give you the idea.

I know on Linux you likely need to install packages like FFmpeg after a new OS install so you can fully support HTML5 players in Firefox.

I think this might be OS centric. Videos play well on my Debian set-up, via Firefox, but I have trouble on a FreeBSD system. Yes, FFmpeg i s installed. On further checking, quality varies. Videos play smooth;y if I drop sound through Pulseaudio. Further checking is needed, I think.
