After opening the add bookmark panel and clicking on the down "arrow" next to location I would like to be able to increase the vertical size of the panel so I can see more folders. Is there a way under the hood to do this?

Beyond the accessibility feature and customization options toolbar of Firefox browser any changes to what standard on the browser would be either Addons or userChrome.css or 3rd party software to do what your trying.
