Make it work properly so I don't always get results from freaking United Kingdom when I'm trying to find out where Walmart is in Canada

Make it work properly so I don't always get results from freaking United Kingdom when I'm trying to find out where Walmart is in Canada

Chosen solution

Not sure what has hhappened Whether I changed something correctly or if the issue was solved remotely. Google homepage has been displaying the correct location since sometime yesterday. What I did notice was two of my homepage links suddenly stopped opening and new one appeared. Weird, absolutely, reasonable, not in the least bit. But everything seems to be working correctly now, so I'm not going to worry about it any longer. Thanks for the help Firefox community.

firefoxsucks, is it Firefox or the search engine that thinks that you are in the UK?

I believe that Google, for example, can determine your location based on past activity or IP or other factors that have nothing to do with the browser.

Still, you can search for "language" and "location" in Firefox settings (look in the Tools menu) and check that any languages etc are set as they should be.

Thanks for the quick response. You may be correct in that it is Google homepage. All I have confirmed is that when Express VPN is off. google homepage displays Canada in the bottom left and results are relevant. When VPN on google homepage displays United Kingdom in the bottom left and all results are UK related. ie....amazon.co.uk instead of amazon.ca. Not sure what is doing this and on occasion it seems to be working correctly but during these times I am not really searching for location specific things. Thought I figured out once but I'm back to trying to figure out what is going on and what is doing it, browser, Google, android 7, old ASUS tablet,or the VPN. Your explanation is the same response I received from Google. Which, who freaking cares, how do I correct the problem. I cleared the cache , re-installed Firefox. Searches work in Chrome, but I can't stand using Chrome. Results are at least relevant to correct location, hence my belief the problem was with Firefox. Should not be related but I rarely ever turn location on any device.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Does it happen with other VPN servers other than Toronto? I have heard of websites, say, often thinking that a person is in France when they connect to a German server, but this doesn't happen if they connect to Italy or Belgium or anywhere else.

Although I have heard of this, I am not sure what the explanation is. A possibility is that there is something about the German server of that VPN that causes websites to misread its location?

If this doesn't happen with other VPN server locations, then maybe your VPN provider could explain why its Toronto server might not be "advertising" itself fully to some websites?

You can see what information websites see when connected to your VPN via sites such as: https://whatismyipaddress.com/

Also, did you try testing in a new clean profile without importing any old data or changing any settings, to see if it still happens?

You posted with an Android user agent, is this a problem on desktop or on mobile?
