why does thunderbird not present me with a "send" option? This is a recent problem after years of use.

There is no "send" option on my Thunderbird email screen. I can prepare an email, but cannot send it. This is an infuriating issue!

I'm going to guess that you have lost your toolbar.

In the write window, press F10 or alt to make a menu appear. Go to View|Toolbars and tick the checkboxes.
