For the first couple of times the newspaper article will open, then I get a blank box with "View article" at the top. I have taken it up with the site but they say it is a Firefox issue. I have tried all the things to check for problems with add on etc but I am still getting the problems. I don't get the problems if I use the same computer and use Internet Explorer or Google Chrome.

Thanks for replying

1. Open http://www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk
2. enter search term, eg "reliant" although Iget the problem with all searches
3 click "view", the thumbnail or the title.
4 The box should show the page of newspaper but comes up as per screen shot attached. NB it may work correctly the first couple of times but if you log and and come back in it won't.

Sorry I assumed it was a free site. It asks for subscriptions and costs money.

Suggest you ask for your money back if it does not work or use another browser.

Thanks FredMcD, I have tried all these things but still no luck. I will have to use Internet Explorer or Google Chrome. It is very odd as it does not happen on my husbands computer in Firefox 29.

Did you try to access that web page while in Safe Mode?

Are that PDF articles?

You can also check the Web Console (Firefox/Tools > Web Developer) for JavaScript errors (you can probably hide the CSS errors).

Yes, I had tried all the things suggested in Firefox for checking errors but I still have the problem. Thank You

Hi thanks for the reply. Changing the PDF viewer does not help and I am afraid the technical bit it the Java script is beyond me.

After poking round for some time I have just had a bit of a breakthrough but don't know why. If I RIGHT click on the empty box that says view article and click open in new tab the document comes up. Does anyone know what causes this ?

Can you give a screen shot of what the problem is? I went to the site. The main page looks like it's working. Selecting an article asks for a subscription, so I couldn't go further.

You can check the Web Console and Browser Console (Firefox/Tools > (Web) Developer) for security errors in case content is blocked.

Hi Fred Mcd You can see a screen shot on an earlier post on here. That is what I get if I just left click to view. I have found that if I right click I get the box which offers me an option to "Open in new Tab" which then works, I am afraid I have looked at all the sites suggested about Java errors etc but I am afraid I do not understand it, I am a used not a programmer. I am able to use the site now but only in a roundabout way. Thank you

Hmm. Not sure what the story is here. BTW, if you have a 3 button mouse, you can use the middle button to open the link in a new tab. You may need to access the settings if your mouse does not do that.
