Plugins: I have got the most up to date plug ins for my system and computor yet when I check my plug in update page, it constantly tells me to up date 'flash'. Even after I have updated it and check the following day, it still insists that it is vunerable and needs updating. Very annoying and confusing! This is the plug in for Adobe that I have installed on my computor: Adobe Flash Player 11.3.300.250 This was/is the one recommended by Adobe for Firefox 13.

Have updated as suggested, and as per usual. Restarted (complete shutdown) computor, checked plug-in updates and sure enough, it is still telling me that 'requires updating' - so still have same problem, and it is always with flash!

hello, is the shockwave flash plugin with the version number 11.3.300.257 showing up as enabled in firefox > addons plugins?

Now that is interesting! I have just gone to my 'installed programs' and for some reason it is not the version I downloaded! I used the link given above, and downloaded the said version. So how have I ended up with the same one that I actually deleted before downloading the newer version? I definitly did download 11.3.300.257. Tonight an error message popped up telling me that Firefox plugin container had failed and so the program would close. I just closed the window and carried on browsing. Could this be the problem? I also had this error pop up before installing the Flash Player. I seem to have the 11.3.300.250..........weird!

hello, in this case please try to use the uninstaller provided by adobe and try to remove flash from your computer again. http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html

then install the latest version of flash from http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

please note that there are different versions of the flash plugin for internet explorer and other browsers. for firefox please select "other browsers" and uncheck the offer to install the bundled security software on that page.

Madperson: am ahead of you there. I used the uninstaller in both cases. Restarted, went to the Adobe site and downloaded the proper version. AGAIN - it failed on installation, so now there is no flashplayer on computor. This happened once before, no matter what was suggested the latest version fails to intialize, it gets as far as 7% then stalls and then up comes the message 'download has timed out' then switches to 'flash failed to install'. I went back to my downloads folder, and the icon/installer for flashplayer that I downloaded has gone altogether. Could it be anything to do with having Shockwave Player 11.6.5.635 installed as well? In all cases I have used the version for firefox. As it is after midnight here in NZ I will look for your reply in morning. Thank you for your efforts to help!

Try to run the Flash installer as Administrator via the right-click context menu.

If you uninstall Flash via the uninstaller then all installed Flash versions should be removed (for IE as well, Google Chrome won't be affected).

Thank you both! Now have the current version of flash installed. Cor_el this time the admin prompt did appear where as before it did not. Frankly I do not understand why it has been such a problem to update when I have done everything correct. ie: uninstalled older version of flash, downloaded the current one and for some reason it just times out and on it goes. BUT it is done now, thank you both xx
