When I enter SMTP password, and check the "Use Password Manager to remember this password", it's not remembered
Recently it's a daily occurrence that I must enter the password for my SMTP server. I always check "Use Password Manager to remember this password" but it doesn't help. The next day I'll have to go through this again.
I power on my machine multiple times each day, and I use Thunderbird each time. It doesn't happen each time. It seems to happen only the first time I use Thunderbird each day. This is new behavior. Before it would happen now and then, now it's daily.
I don't have a Primary Password. No need for it.
If you need to see the message I can send it to you, but I'm not attaching it right now because it shows my email address and the smtp destination. Maybe I'm being too careful.

There may be a bigger problem, that of thunderbird not being able to update at shutdown. You can sorta' test this by changing some other setting, shutting down, restarting, and seeing if the change is still there. That is, the problem may not be the password, but something (antivirus, VPN, ) interfering with shutdown. Sometimes there is history of this. If you look in your profile and there is more than one prefs.js, that would be indicative of the issue.
I have this problem too... My Gmail account works fine.... For my BTmail addy's, not one is recognised or remembered. Above response to original poster says: "If you look in your profile and there is more than one prefs.js, that would be indicative of the issue." Could someone explain this in more detail for those of us that don't keep up tech/coding updates.... i.e. Which profile..where?
Thanking you....
OK, this may not be your problem, but to see your profile, click to help>troubleshootinginformation, scroll down to 'profile folder' and click 'open folder'
I have eight prefs.js files. The first is prefs.js and then there are seven more, prefs-1.js through prefs-7.js.
First, I do not know what is causing the problem. I suggest checking that antivirus or VPN is not interferring. For now, these steps may fix the issue:
- remove all except the highest numbered prefs
- rename that one to prefs.js
- start thunderbird to see if all settings are okay.
