When the built-in VPN is available, you should see a VPN icon in the top-right corner of the toolbar. Selecting it will open a prompt to turn on the VPN. If you don’t see the icon, try right-clicking the toolbar, selecting "Customize Toolbar" and checking the overflow menu to add it back. For more information, see Use built-in VPN in Firefox and Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars.
If you can't find the VPN icon, you can try the following to see what may be the problem:
- Enter about:studies in the Firefox address bar to check whether you’re part of the VPN - MVP Beta Holdback study that prevents you from seeing or using the built-in VPN. See About Studies to learn more about participating in studies.
- The built-in VPN may also be unavailable if an Enterprise policy is blocking it. You can check this by entering about:policies in the Firefox address bar to see if the IPProtectionAvailable policy is active, which can prevent availability.
- Signing out of your Mozilla account and signing back in may also help. Before signing out, make sure you know your password and that Sync is enabled so you don’t risk losing or overwriting browser data.
