I've looked at some past threads on Foxstart, and it seemed it wasn't a toolbar that appeared up in the toolbar area, but instead was some kind of search service. Does that describe what you're seeing?

• If it has replaced your home page, you can reset that in the options, as described in this article: How to set the home page.
• If it has changed how Firefox searches, you can return to Google using this add-on: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/fire.../searchreset/.

Is there more to clean up?

Oh... you also are running an old version of Firefox. Due to security flaws in old versions, you may be vulnerable to unexpected and unwanted changes in Firefox and on your system. Is there any reason you cannot update to the current version?

Try to use the SearchReset extension to reset some preferences to the default values.

Note that the SearchReset extension only runs once and then uninstalls automatically, so it won't show on the "Firefox > Add-ons" page (about:addons).

The Firefox Firefox 16.0.2 version that you currently run is no longer supported with security updates

Also check if there are plugins that need to be updated.
