homepage getting reset, how do I lock it so nothing can change it

firefox 8 something is reseting my homepage, I want my home page to be HTTPS//encrypted.google.com I am not allowed to change the default homepage or select which homepage I can select from, it changes me to msn or bing without being request to.

Try uninstalling that StartNow Toolbar 2.3.0 which is disabled. Known to be a carrier of Bing-related crap.

did this solve the problem, unknown, I will have to wait about a week to see if I still have the problem, but I did remove the startnow tool bar, but this seems to bring up a new question, does disable not work or is firefox lying to me and just saying something is disabled when it's not really disabled.
