Hi. I'm still new to Firefox and don't really know the settings very well. I recently switched over to using it and realized that when I use most drop down boxes the background of the drop down menu is black, but the text is white and the selection box (when you hover over the item) is also white. Making whatever I'm hovering over very hard to see. I'm wondering if I have a strange setting turned on or not?

Settings wise I have Firefox set to dark mode, not the auto. But when I use the auto it still happens. Trying it in safe mode it still happens. Iv tried to research this a little myself. And read something about the proton setting and turning that from true to false. But this also did not work.

Is there any way to fix this? I just need the text to be a different color or the selection box (when you hover over it) to be a different color.

Attached are two screenshots of what I'm seeing

Is that a site which volunteers could check without needing an account/login?

I can think of two built-in settings for applying a "dark theme":

(1) Theme - Use themes to change the look of Firefox

(2) Website appearance - Change website appearance settings in Firefox

Does it matter if those are both set to dark or both set to system/automatic?

This first picture is from twitter. Twitter being in dark mode in its own settings. the other being a site you have to log in to see. That too also being in the dark mode setting. Both sites in their settings being set to dark mode. Changing them to light mode just changes the site to light mode, but does fix the text box going to a mode readable state but this defeats the purpose because I want the sites to be dark mode. The only dark theme I'm using is the dark theme in the general settings of fire fox. And the dark theme option on websites. Changing the theme in Firefox to auto doesn't fix the issue.

I use a Light theme. When I select the darkest theme in Twitter Accessibility settings, the text appears normally, but the highlighted row is hard to read. I can't test the other combinations right now.

(I should mention that I was testing in Advanced Search, which is the only place I saw similar selectors.)

So my set up is. In twitter settings. Its set to darkest theme. In the Firefox settings, in the general tab i have it set to auto, changed since the last post. Still getting the picture from above. That drop down is from the menu of trying to set the time of a scheduled post on twitter.
