Hello and thanks for you replay. I use IMAP From my browser, I deleted an email and it went on my second "Delete" folder, icon rubbish can, but most of my deleted messages go to my "Deleted Messages' icon also rubbish can. Sent an email form my browser, it went in my "Sent" folder, icon Arrow. I adding a snap shot of the browser, here I think lies the problem.

OK so once again Mozilla strikes with changing the programs to user unfriendly. Got an update last night that changed the over all look of thunderbird that I do not like at all.

I like my menu bar at the top of the screen where all menu bars have always gone but in this update they moved the menu bar below the thunderbird buttons bar the one that has the search bar and all the various buttons which I added back in customize but I see no way to put the menu bar back up top.

So is there a way or skin or hack that will let me move the menu bar back to the very top of the screen rather then second row???

By menu bar I mean the one that has

File / Edit/ View / Go / Messages / Tools / Help

UPDATE: Issue resolved I found a short article that had the needed CSS code for the needed userchrome.css file so if anyone is looking to also move the menu bar up this worked for me!

Hello,

now the new Thunderbird version was installed although I did not want that yet because the version is not mature in my opinion yet.

My problem is that I work with individual view and the old Thunderbird version has remembered the setting. In the new version it does not work and that means now for me with each folder change I have to set the individual view again. And that is really annoying. Is there a way that Thunderbird remembers what is set ?

Thanks for the help, Tom

Always, clicking the new email notification takes me to the email, in the inbox where the email is. Suddenly now in this new update, it OPENS the email - doesn't take me to the inbox it was sent to or anything, just instantly opens the email. It would be super nice to have the normal old functionality back, or at least to have the option somewhere in settings to make it happen the right way instead of this new wrong way.

My PC automatically upgraded the Thunderbird email software - which was a pain as it required a lot of setting up and customisation, however this has all now been done apart from one issue.

I cannot change the font of the displayed incoming emails, or the font of the folders.

How can I change the font of these? and what was the font for these on previous versions?

Many thanks

Chris

The new updates are horrible

I've been using TBird for a very long time and am thinking of leaving.

Fonts are now tiny. Can't read my mail without a struggle.

Even changing font size to be bigger in settings isn't helping, even after a restart. Fonts in mail are all too small to see. I don't have any system override set either.

Are you trying to drive older / disabled people away? Feels like it.

Please give one-button option for old look.

At this point I want to revert to last version but can't find download for old version.

Can you help me fix this please, or please show me link to get last version, and turn off updating.

For future: allow in updates to keep old look even with security upgrades. (I'd love even the old icon, but I'm sure that's asking a lot.)

IF THE LOOK ISN'T BROKEN, DON'T FIX IT. Making someone modern while tossing old users under the bus doesn't seem like your style, until today.

p.s. I'm sure other people have this problem but it's not clear how to find this forum. I first just replied to one of your tweets, but I doubt that will be read.

I have two problems with Supernova that I hope will be corrected in future bug fix upgrades. 1. When I delete an email the display resets with the location of the deleted email off screen at the top. I have to scroll back up all that way to go back to work on my next emails. In the past it did not reset the screen - everything stayed the same, just without the deleted email. 2. Emails I have not read are in bold. I have not been able to identify why, but some emails do not change off bold once I have read them. The just sit there as bold no matter how many times I click on them.

Using Tb 115.3.1 I've checked/shown "Tags" folders in my Folder pane. I've customized all other folders' columns by first having my desired selection on one folder, then "Apply Columns to Folder and its children..." for each account I have. I've looked into applying the same to my "Tags" folders but I couldn't find if there is such possibility?

At the end I applied my preferred columns to each "Tags" folder individually. For tag-folders I added "Account" column as well but I wanted the rest of the columns as with my other account folders. It would be nice if "Tags" folders could be targeted by the "Apply columns to...".

In Thunderbird from v102 (I think) onwards, a new message is indicated by a yellow/orange diamond indicator to the left of the subject heading.

Unlike other "status flag" elements in the message list ("Read status", "Starred", "Priority" and so on) – which are columns that can be repositioned or removed like any other column – this indicator seems to be implemented as an integral part of the "Subject" column, and the user can't do anything in the UI to remove it.

(You can see from the HTML in the screenshot that it uses a placeholder img element inside the table cell that contains the subject line: the default CSS renders this img with the yellow/orange graphic.)

I could get rid of this indicator easily enough with some code in userChrome.css. However, that's not consistent with "Read status", "Starred", "Priority" etc, which a user can simply remove with the column chooser in the UI.

Am I missing something: is there a way of removing this "new message" indicator without custom CSS?

This issue started as soon as Thunderbird updated to 115.3.1 (64 bits).

I was in another window, a full screen (borderless) game, and as soon as I received a new e-mail, Thunderbird minimized the game to focus on the Thunderbird window. I tested this sending a e-mail to myself and the same thing happened but also tested this while writing this message and this time the focus did not change to Thunderbird.

So as a workaround I am having to close Thunderbird as I am playing games.

I use Dragon NaturallySpeaking extensively. I've been using it successfully in Thunderbird for years now.

Suddenly today, nothing I dictate in Dragon is being recognized or typed in in Thunderbird. Dragon is working just fine here in my browser, and every place else. So I suspect the issue may not be with Dragon, but instead with Thunderbird. I applied the Universal Computer Fix of rebooting my computer, but that hasn't helped.

Is it possible something in the latest Thunderbird update has broken my ability to use Dragon?

How can I fix this?

If you want your 'Message List' to use alternative colour stripes often refered to as zebra style then I have put together some code and instructions on how to create the effect.

Obviously you may need to modify the actual colours used. The following works on a Light theme. The striping is white and pale grey. On hover the text is black on a pale blue background. On select the text is white on a light blue background, but strong enough to show white text clearly.

Hallo, after the installation of Thunderbird Supernova, now in the 115.3.0 (32-bit) version, I encounter this problem: I usually organize my email through menu View > Sort by > Grouped by Sort. So I have my messages divided in Today, Yesterday, Last 7 Days, etc... You can open or close those group of messages but, now, every time I open the program, or a folder, they are always opened, even though I had closed them shortly before. I hope I have explained myself (I am Italian).

Thunderbird 115.2.3. Mac OS 10.15.7 on an older Mac mini. I use larger-sized fonts, so display real estate is limited.

I want to see the full headers, but I want them to scroll in a message header pane that I can resize (that is, I want to be able to move the horizontal line pointed to in the attached image to increase the message display area and decrease the header display area). Otherwise, it takes over my entire message space. Is there a way to do this (I haven't found it)?

Hello,

I was wondering if there was a way do display and edit the categories for carddav contacts. I like the new contact manager but I am relying a long on categories in order so sort and display my contacts. Right now I am using the CardBook addon to do.

So I have two questions:

  • Is there a way to display/edit carddav categories with the built-in thunderbird contact manager?
  • If I edit a contact with the built-in contact manager, will my categories be lost? (I mean for an existing contact already having categories, I change, say, its phone number, what happen to the categories when I click save?)

Thanks a lot for your help!

I have multiple accounts - some IMAP and others gmail, and I want to be sure all accounts are checked regularly, but I only want the notification badge in Windows to show up for designated accounts rather than all of them. My current and somewhat unsatisfactory solution is to set mail.biff.show_badge to false, but I'd really rather have the badge show up for a couple of the accounts I have.

If this is something that should be an extension I'm game - it's been a hot minute since I wrote a Moz extension (for Firefox, long ago) but if someone were to point me vaguely in the direction of where to poke at I might just give it a go.

Strange threading behavior has crept in to new releases. Sometimes when msg within a thread is deleted, instead of it 'disappearing', it is replaced by an empty message dated 1Jan70. When reply to a threaded message, (Unified InBox) my response appears twice (identical content). Worse: deleting 'one' results in both disappearing. (Undo brings them both back. Sigh!) Work-around is to re-start TB, and affected threads become corrected. Something I have/not done during upgrade?
