How do i get reply pane to mssg to pop up in front of Inbox emails?

After receiving several emails, I'll hit reply..the reply pane used to pop up in FRONT of the email pane. Recently, it has changed to popping up BEHIND the In box pane. This means I have to minimize the In Box, to see the reply pane sand start my reply message. Is there way to change this back to the reply pane popping up in front again?
