On a dual-stack network, with Windows tcpip6 ‘disabledcomponents’ parameter set to prefer IPv6, Firefox ignores this setting whenever an endpoint resolves both an IPv4 and a NAT64 address.

While monitoring traffic captured while connecting to sites in Firefox, if the initial DNS request for the site comes back with an IPv6 address only, the connection attempts from client’s IPv6 address to destination IPv6. If DNS answers come back with IPv4 and IPv6, the connection attempts IPv6 to IPv6. If DNS answers come back with IPv4 and a NAT64 address, Firefox doesn’t even attempt to connect to the NAT64 address, it immediately defaults to IPv4. I’ve tried disabling the IPv4 fallback setting which doesn’t change the behavior.

We’re running version 140.8.0esr. Is this behavior intended for Firefox? Is there a way to configure Firefox so it doesn’t ignore NAT64 addresses in dual-stack environments? The only way I found to force this was to completely disable the IPv4 stack on the client system’s NIC.

Hello everyone. This is more of a review, because it is impossible to get help from these forums, effective help (judging by the AI-based answers) And it is impossible to write a review or suggest an idea, since the site does not open, which is ideas. Maybe because I'm from Russia. About six months ago, very serious problems started with the browser. I have Windows 11, a completely modern computer, and Kaspersky anti-virus. And the problem arose like this, from time to time, the browser began to multiply images in the tab, i.e., a random part of the image in the browser appeared instead of another element. And gradually the whole tab turned out to be in the form of a puzzle. This was accompanied by an actual system freeze, treated by logging back into the Windows profile, or rebooting, in the worst case. Simply put, the browser began to produce completely incomprehensible errors. And if it didn't bother me too much at first, I logged back in and that's it, in recent weeks the error has started to occur even during active browser use (it usually started after half an hour of inactivity) In recent weeks, the puzzle in the tab has appeared quite insanely often. By the way, there are no messages on this topic on the Web at all. And it's impossible to take a screenshot of the error, as the system was barely working at the time. As a result, I just reinstalled the browser, once again losing a huge number of open tabs (there are, of course, more than a thousand in the log, but there is no option to Open them) The ways to save sessions from the forum do not work at all, the extension of the Tab session manager did not work

And the review, in fact, was once a beautiful Fox, now it's not even a competitor to chrome. Which allows you to save data and restore it without unnecessary problems. I have installed Mozilla Firefox again, but all data will now be backed up in Chrome. Mozilla Firefox is just for surfing the Net. I would like the developers to think at least a little about user convenience. By making it convenient to work with data backup and recovery. And to make it work at all. By the way, the topics that AI advised me to read in the Firebox problem solving search rarely have more than 52% positive reviews. Is the browser really so poorly made, by modern standards, that almost half of users can't figure it out? And even tech support itself gives out standard tips that can't help.

This is my last message here, there's no point in answering.

I would like to setup Firefox so it checks for updates and installs them during maintenance windows (overnight) and runs the updates as 'system' account.

I tried using the following GPO settings

Application Autoupdate Enabled Background updater Enabled Disable Firefox Studies Enabled Disable Telemetry Enabled Disable Update Disabled Don't Check Default Browser Enabled

This seems to create Schedule tasks in Windows task scheduler, but the tasks are running as previously logged on user accounts. which doesn't help us in this particular environment.

I know we can manually push out the latest version via creating new MCM application pushes but the amount of updates that are coming down is a labor intensive exercise and we don't have the budget for PatchMyPC

Please post any thoughts!

As of recent I increasingly have issues with accessing websites, those websites previously (yesterday) worked fine on Firefox. Version is 148.0 on Mac 26.3 (Apple M3 Silicon).

Now it has completely stopped working. Only websites using direct IP-address still work, all others fail with "Hmm. We’re having trouble finding that site.". Safari still opens the websites flawlessly.

Nothing has changed on the OS level or application level as no updates have been installed (no need, as everything is up to date). Antivirus is BitDefender with extension for Firefox enabled for already an extended time (year or so).

I tried disabling several dns.resolver settings as mentioned in https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-cant-load-websites-other-browsers-can. No improvement whatsoever.

I quit firefox, removed the cache manually and restarted while starting a new test profile, so completely blank. Issue is still there.

DNS Servers on OS-level are correct.

Version 148 was installed last night evening and as such could be the reason for the failure since it is basically the only thing that changed.

I have a mac mini, and i use firefox, when i open the app the window fills about 3/4 of the screen i use the arrows to expand the side and bottom to fill the screen (not full screen mode) just wanting firefox to open and fill the screen in general.

Once i expand the sides and bottom to fill screen i close and reopen fireox but it wont retain that size, so i see my desktop on the right and bottom areas. I thought by resizing closing it would retain that upon re opening, but it doesn't.

I dont want to be in full screen mode i just want when i open firefox for it to fill the screen and keep my top bar and whatnot in tact, is there something in settings or with key strokes via mac that I can do once i manually adjust the screen size so that it retains that size?

My current display settings are 1920x1080 if that matters and mac os tahoe with firefox 148 installed.

The main reason I use Firefox rather than Chrome or Edge is because Firefox allows 32 home page shortcuts. I configure my home page with all 4 available rows of 8, pinned in position so they are grouped based on function, along with putting the home page icon on the toolbar. On several occasions these have disappeared and the 'popular sites' do not load. I have had to use Control Panel -> uninstall program to 'fix' Firefox; this causes all my shortcuts to disappear, along with the toolbar 'home' icon and '4 row' display. I am running Windows 10 Pro, and will be migrating to Windows 11 Pro on a new computer. Will this issue be fixed with Firefox running on Win 11? Is there a way to easily save my home page settings so that if they disappear I can reload them? Thanks!

I recently switched over to a physical key for 2FA through Duo for managing several work accounts. When Windows Security pops up for the key authentication, it automatically cancels my Duo login. This doesn't happen if I use Chrome or Edge.

Is there a way to address this via Firefox?

I can't access Duo support easily and have already tried disabling the Windows Security pop-up.

Thanks for any suggestions!

I've recently come across the issue stated in the title. I've turned the setting off and on again, tried with the setting on and off, and it keeps automatically swapping to the new tab 95% of the time. There are a couple times that it wont swap but it more than certainly happens on the 2nd try. I believe this started happening after update 148 was installed.
