Hi, Since the last update of thunderbird to version 115.0.1 (64 bits), the display of unified folders is impossible. Has anyone had this same problem?

Hi, Since the last update of thunderbird to version 115.0.1 (64 bits), the display of unified folders is impossible. Has anyone had this same problem?

Chosen solution

Finally, I just found the solution to this "Unified Folders" display problem. This is a problem with the unified accounts index. To fix it, you have to go to the Thunderbird profile and delete this index. It will be rebuilt automatically the next time you start Thunderbird. For that : Thunderbird menu --> Help --> more troubleshooting information --> Under "Profile folder", click on "Open the corresponding folder" --> close Thunderbird --> in the profile folder, open the "Mail" directory --> in this mail directory, delete the "Smart mailboxes" directory --> restart Thunderbird

Impossible how?

Prior to this update, the "Unified Folders" option was active. After the update, only the menu appeared, the rest was empty. So I changed the option and now, when the "Unified Folders" option is checked in View, nothing happens and the option remains unchecked. I don't know if this matters, my OS is Windows 11.

@softedge

Clearly your issue is something else, or the information in this topic would have fix the issue for you. SO your issue will not be taken up here.

As you have a different problem, I suggest you file your own support topic, as you have done twice before, with specific information and screen shots to make it clear what you are talking about.

Nothing happens when I click on the Open Folder under Profile Folder. I cannot get to "Mail" directory. Any thoughts?

To go directly to your Thunderbird profile folder (on Windows): C:\Users\your-user-profile\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\profil-thunderbird\Mail

@softedge I resolved my missing account this way:

  1. Turn off unified inbox
  2. Shut down Thunderbird
  3. Restarted Thunderbird
  4. Shut down Thunderbird
  5. Deleted the smart mailboxes folder
  6. Restarted Thunderbird
  7. Turned on unified inbox

…and my missing account reappeared. It was my thought process that this might also reset the Thunderbird startup cache to help in clean up. Not sure how true it was, but it worked for me.

Following the instructions everything goes the first time. On the next restart Thunderbird crashes (I have kde neon 22.04).

@Pablopedro

Thunderbird crashes? Do you have the same problem? That of the subject, a Unified Files problem? Have you tried Ian's solution, just above?

I noticed that the problem is solved by putting "sort" > "simple display" in the message list, after following Ian's instructions. If, as I had done, the view is "grouped by order," switching from one folder to another or from the "seen"/"unseen" filter, thunderbird would freeze for an infinite time.

@Pablopedro

I hope that your problem has found at least this temporary solution, hoping that the next Thunderbird update resolves your problem.

I'd like to confirm this issue. Whenever I open Inbox in Unified Folder view + "Grouped by Sort", TB freezes for 10-20 seconds and CPU usage goes up on 2 or more cores. If grouping is turned of as suggested by Pablopedro, everything works fine. I've noticed this issue first with TB v115, AFAIR it never occured with previous versions.
