How can I scrub GIFs in Firefox / show video playback controls on them?

I didn’t find any current addons or solutions for doing so when I looked it up.

That doesn't work when I go through r/memes. Like it didn't see the GIF in this post: https://www.reddit.com/r/memes/comments/159c7w9/time_to_die_ig/, on the page itself nor in the feed.

On Reddit, that is a video (maybe it was a GIF when it was posted but it was converted for display).

You can right-click the video and choose Show Controls.

I am not aware of a setting to override a website's choice as to whether to show controls on a video; maybe there is an add-on for that.

That worked, though I still want controls for actual GIFs like this one: https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=web+gif+example#vhid=YGtfdlLW95ObWM&vssid=l. JSGif doesn't seem to show playback controls like what I'd want.

You can't control a site animations per say to like a video player can or audio player. That is set by the site and they control what feature can be run on it or control it.

JSGif works if you open it stand-alone in a tab on the host site (https://www.creatopy.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/Automation.gif). But is that the best solution? Probably not. Have you searched for an add-on?

jsgif lets you pause, play backwards, frame step forward/back and jump to a specific frame number when paused but there is no progress bar or speed control like a video.

That's what I want, a bar to indicate progress and can scrub.
