Thunderbird message appears as draft
I suddenly cannot open an email without it displaying as a draft message to be sent to myself! This only occurs with messages held in one particular folder. All other folders works as expected in a default manner. I feel sure I must have inadvertently changed a setting but cannot figure out what it is.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Brian

re :This only occurs with messages held in one particular folder.
For the sake of these instructions - let's pretend that 'particular' folder is called 'Test'.
It's unknown whether you have any 'virtual' folders/views set up, so...
If that folder is a 'Favourite' folder: Right click on 'Test' folder and uncheck the 'favourite folder' - so it gets removed from the 'Favourite Folders' list.
Q: Did you have that 'Test' folder set up as a 'Favourite' folder ?
Check you have this setting : View > Folders > All
Please let me know results at each step:
- Right click on 'Test' folder and select Properties
- click on 'Repair Folder'
- click on OK
Do the 'Test' folder emails still display as if a draft ?
If yes: In Thunderbird
- Menu app icon > Help > More Trounbleshooting information
- Under 'Application Basics' - 'Profile Folder' - click on 'Open Folder'
A new window opens showing contents of your profile name folder.
Exit thunderbird now:
Scroll down, locate and delete the following files:
- folderTree.json
- global-messages-db.sqlite
- panacea.dat
- session.json
- virtualFolders.dat
Click on 'Mail' folder
- Delete this folder: 'smart mailboxes'
Start Thunderbird
Do the 'Test' folder emails still display as if a draft ?
Firstly, thanks for your comprehensive reply Toad-Hall.
In the meantime I have downloaded the Folder Flag addon which showed the folder to have the flag set to Draft, reset the flag to Inbox and all has been fine since.
However to answer your questions. I do not (to my knowledge) have any virtual folders, certainly not deliberately set up by myself. The folder in question was not set to Favourite. I ran the repair folder routine without any issues. As mentioned above, the folder now displays correctly following resetting the flag. I continued with the More Troubleshooting Information routine out of curiosity but have not deleted any files. However, looking in the Mail folder could not find a 'smart mailboxes' folder.
How my Inbox suddenly developed "Draft" properties I do not know and presumably there is a chance it may again. whilst resetting the flag seems to work, your more comprehensive instructions will be my go-to method for clearing the problem, hopefully permanently.
Once again, thanks.
