Why can't I use 'open message in conversation' anymore?

Upgraded Thunderbird yesterday because it said I should. But noticed today that new messages do not have Open Message in Conversation.

The only add-on I have is Lightning. Disabled it and restarted thunderbird, no joy.

Turns out it was the "Reset toolbars and controls" in addition to "disable all addons" and TWO restarts of Thunderbird that resolved it. Then re-enabled Lightning and all is well.
