I am a long time user of Thunderbird. With the installation of 45.5.1 I keep getting a notice to select my default email client -- I have done this over and over with Windows 10. But the pop-up keeps appearing each time I start T-bird. Is this a Windows 10 issue or a T-bird issue.

Are you starting another email clients in addition to Thunderbird, which registers itself as the default mail app? E.g. Outlook does this.
