I have two computers with Windows 7 operating system. On one of my computers, when I set up my email options etc., I somehow ended up having a separate folder for Spam email with the result that all the Spam email gets downloaded on this particular computer. I end up with hundreds of emails in this particular folder every other day and have to delete them so that they don't keep taking up so much disk space. When I try to delete them, I am not able to delete them rapidly like my other folders (sent mail, received mail, etc.). I would like to get rid of this folder so that all Spam email doesn't get downloaded on this particular computer but haven't been able to do so. I have to use the delete key highlights each email individually. On my other computer, if I have a mess of emails I don't want, as for an example, in the trash folder, I simply press the control key and the A key simultaneously, and then hit the delete key with no problem. If I try to do so in the Spam folder, Thunderbird hangs up.

I usually delete all the email in this folder without looking at any of the emails so I am not worried able deleting something I may want.

Thanks for any help anyone can give me.

Fred

A folder named "Spam" is almost certainly created by your mail provider. Thunderbird doesn't use this word. I guess this account connects using IMAP?

You could ignore it by unsubscribing it in Thunderbird, but the material they put in it will pile up and consume part of your account's quota. Maybe you can set it (via the provider's website) to automatically delete the contents after some time, but most spam filtering systems make mistakes now and again, so I'd always choose to review its contents myself.

You can empty it quickly using ctrl+a to select all, then del.
