ღია

I have a URL that cannot be shown in any browser.

I have Firefox. Sometimes the URL shows but most of the times, it does no show. I am running this URL in ads I have in Leads Leap. This is my business URL and if it doesn't run, I cannot work. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox. I have had the URL completely checked out with the Support group where the URL originates. I have followed various technical steps My Daily Impact Support has suggested and nothing has worked. The latest thing I am looking at is the shield to the left of the address bar where i could turn off Enhanced Tracking Protection but the switch cannot be toggled off. I have also tried to pull up this URL on my Chrome and Edge browsers and i cannot access the URL there, either. Support mentioned trying the incognito approach and I have not tried that, yet. From what i am writing here, can you help me?

Hi,

Sorry you experience that. Here are some standard troubleshooting steps that may resolve the issue:

  1. Please check if you have Enhanced Tracking Protection (ETP) enabled. You can do that by clicking the shield Fx89ShieldIcon icon in the left part of the address bar.
    • If ETP is enabled, try disabling it.
  2. If the problem is not fixed, try clearing Firefox cache.
  3. If it does not help, try clearing cookies and data for the website you experience troubles with (warning: you will be logged out on this website).
  4. If it also does not help, try running Firefox in Troubleshoot Mode. If the problem doesn't persist, please follow the steps from this article to troubleshoot further.
  5. If nothing from the above helps, try creating a new Firefox profile and check if the issue persists there. If it doesn't, you can start copying files from your old profile to the new one to identify which one causes the issue. See this article on what files to copy.
  6. Finally, if creating a new profile hasn't helped, please check if the issue persists in other browsers (e.g. Chrome, Edge, Opera or Safari).
    • If it does, it is most likely an issue on the website's side. You may want to inform the website owner or administrator about that.
    • If it doesn't, that's a compatibility issue. Please report it on WebCompat, so that our team there may be able to look into it. We'd also appreciate posting a link to your report here.

Does any of the above help? Looking forward to your update on how it goes!

What kind of ETP setting do you have? To find out, go to about:preferences#privacy and let us know if you set it to Standard/Strict/Custom.

Check if the issue is caused by Total Cookie Protection (TCP) WARNING from the moderator team: Changing Firefox pref from the about:config page can sometimes break Firefox or cause strange behavior. You should only do this if you know what you're doing. Please read Firefox advanced customization and configuration options to learn more.

  • Go to about:config and check if the pref “network.cookie.cookieBehavior” is set at 5, which means that TCP is enabled together with ETP. If the pref value is not 5, then the issue is not TCP-related.
  • Set the pref “network.cookie.cookieBehavior” to 4 and check if the issue still exists. If the issue disappears, then it is a TCP breakage. In that case, you can file a report through Bugzilla or reach out to the #anti-tracking team on Matrix.
